OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
CULTURAL AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
February 6, 1990
Members of the Ways and Means Committee
300 North "0" street
San Bernardino, CA 92418
Dear Members of the Ways and Means Committee:
The Fine Arts Commission did not expect the 60/40 split of
art funds between the Ways and Means Committee and the Fine
Arts Commission to go into effect this budget year.
Therefore, due to this new arrangement, the Fine Arts
Commission was unable to approve the Inland Symphony's grant
in the amount of $90,000. Most of the funds were distributed
to many of the Fine Arts groups prior to the division of
funds. This puts the Symphony in a grave financial
situation.
The Commission is asking the Ways and Means Committee to
recommend to the the Mayor and Common Council to grant the
sum of $65,000 to the Inland Empire Symphony, as an advance
expenditure against the 1990/91 Fine Arts Budget.
If you have any questions, please call Thelma Press at 384-
5114.
Sincerely, ,
~Pv ~k'J
