STAFF REPORT
The victim Support Program has been funded since 1984 using
CDBG funds. with the proliferation of organizations
requesting funding, and the limited funds available, CDBG
financing may not be the long-range answer for this program.
currently, the program is in a deficit position
(approximately $9,000) and requires approximately $34,000 to
make the program whole and extend operations to June 30,
1990. The recommended funding for this amount is from the
monies freed up from the Fire Station Bond Issue.
Funding is recommended at this time and the Police Department
will be asked to submit an application for CDBG funds (which
will become available for use July 1, 1990). The Police
Department will also be asked to continue in its efforts to
locate appropriate funding for the program (State, County)
and to include a progress report and request for supplemental
funding at the time of the 1990-91 Budget request.
Recommended for approval by Ways and Means Committee 12/27/89.
