STAFF REPORT
Complaints have been received from adjoining residents
relative to speeding on Orange Street, between Highland Avenue
and Piedmont Drive.

There is no established speed zone.

Code for a 25 m.p.h. residential zone.

A Traffic Engineering Study was conducted by the Traffic
Engineering Section in order to determine the appropriate speed
zone for this street. The study found that there is no signifi-
cant accident history and that the critical speed varies between
46 miles per hour and 50 miles per hour. Based on the data
collected, we recommend that a 45 m.p.h. speed zone be
established on Orange Street, between Highland Avenue and
Piedmont Drive. Establishment of a 45 m.p.h. speed zone will
allow radar to be used for enforcement.
This recommendation was presented to the Traffic Safety
Advisory Committee on November 7, 1989. The Committee concurred
with the recommendation.
We recommend that the 45 m.p.h.
established.
