STAFF REPORT
The City received a request from Southern California Edison for a Grant of
Easement over City-owned property located on the North side of Third Street.
between Allen Street and Waterman Avenue.
This easement is needed by the Edison Company in order to construct and install a
new underground power facility for the California National Guard building which
is leased from the City.
Edison will be upgrading the existing service to the building for the National
Guard. but the City will be the ultimate beneficiary of the work. As this
property is located within an Underground Utility District. all work will have to
be undergrounded. The UUD dictates the larger size of the easement than is usual
for this type of work.
There are some typical Edison restrictions and covenants within the easement. but
after review. staff feels that none will unduly affect the City's property or
rights.
It is hereby recommended that the attached resolution be approved authorizing and
directing the execution of said Grant of Easement. A copy of said easement is
attached.

2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO GRANTING AN EASEMENT TO
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, A CORPORATION, OVER CITY-OWNED PROPERTY
3 LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THIRD STREET, BETWEEN ALLEN STREET AND WATERMAN
AVENUE.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
5 BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
7 Bernardino hereby execute a Grant of Easement to southern California
8 Edi son Company, a Corpora ti on, for transmi ssi on of el ectri ca 1 energy and
9 appurtenant facilities.
SECTI ON 2.
That said Grant of Easement referred to herein, a
copy of whi ch is attached hereto, marked Exhi bi t II A", and is hereby referred
to and made a part hereof as fully as though set out at length herein, is
hereby approved.
SECTION 3.
That the Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is
hereby authorized and directed to execute said Grant of Easement on behalf
of the City of San Bernardino.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, (hereinafter referred to as "Grantor(s)"), hereby 9rant(s) to SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY, a corporation, Its successors and asoigns (hereinafter referrod to 0"
"Grantee"), an easement and right of way to construct, use, maintain, operate, alter, add to, repair,
replace, reconstruct, inspect and remove at any time and from time to time underground electrical supply
systems and communication systems (heremafter referred to as "systems"), consisting of wires,
underground conduits, cables, vaults, manholes, handholes, and including above-ground enclosures,
markers and concrete pads and other appunenant fixtures and equipment necessary or useful for
distributing electrical energy and for transmitting intelligence by electrical means, in, on, over, under,
across and along that cenain real property in the County of San Bernardino, State of California, described
as follows:
A strip of land 10 feet in width lying within Parcel 7 of Parcel Map No. 7140, as shown on map filed
In Book 69, pages 1 and 2, of Parcel Maps, m the Office of the Recorder of said County; the centerline of
said strip bell1g described as follows:
COMMENCING at the Southwest corner of said parcel; thence South 89'57'53" East 255 feet: thence Nonh
0'06'13" East 5 feet to THE TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING: thence Nonh 89'57'53" West 15 feet; thence
Nonh 0'06'13" East a distance of 83.75 feet.
Grantor(s) agree(s) for themselves, their heirs and assigns, not to erect, place or maintain, nor to
permit the erection, placement or maintenance of any building, planter boxes, earth fill or other
structures except walls and fences on the above described real property. The Grantee, and its
contractors, agents and employees, shall have the right to trim or cut tree roots as may endanger or
