Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
Bernardino, California, reciting the facts of the General Municipal
Election held in said city on the 7m day of February 2006, declaring the
results thereof and setting forth such other matters as are allowed by law.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Elections Code Division IS, Chapter 4 (Official Canvass), requires that a certified
statement of the results of an election must be submitted to the governing body within
28 days of an election. The County Registrar of Voters conducted the City's General
Municipal Election on February 7,2006, and on this date, February 16,2006,
completed the Official Canvass.
San Bernardino City Charter, Section 11, and San Bernardino Municipal Code Section
2.56.130B provide that at the next regular or adjourned regular Council meeting
following the completion of the canvass, the Mayor and Common Council shall declare
the results of the election as official. Adoption of this resolution serves to declare the
election results as official.
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Adopt resolution.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE
FACTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN
SAID CITY ON THE 7TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 2006, DECLARING
THE RESULTS THEREOF AND SETTING FORTH SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and
conducted in the City of San Bernardino on the 71h day of February 2006,
as required by law; and
WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given
in the time, form and manner as provided by law; voting precincts were
properly established; election officers were appointed and in all respects
said election was held and the returns made and declared in the time,
form, and manner as required by the provisions of the Charter of the
City of San Bernardino and the Elections Code of the State of California
for the holding of public elections in the City of San Bernardino; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 2005-406, adopted on
December 5, 2005, the Registrar of Voters of the County of San
Bernardino canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the
results to this City Council and said results are received, attached and
made a part hereof as Exhibit A;

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE
FACTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON
THE 7TH DAY OF FEBRUARY 2006.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and
Common Council of the City of San Bernardino as follows:
Section 1:
That on February 7, 2006, there were 68,488
registered voters in the City of San Bernardino.
Section 2:
That there were 113 voting precincts and 46
polling places established for the purpose of holding said election.
Section 3:
That said General Municipal Election was held for
the purpose of electing the Mayor of the City of San Bernardino.
Section 4:
That the total of all votes cast in said City election
was 15,987 including 8,077 absent voter ballots.
That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number
of votes given in the City for each candidate are listed on the attached
Exhibit A.
Section 5:
That the City Clerk shall enter on the records of
the City Council of said City a statement of the results of the General
Municipal Election held on the 7th day of February 2006.

Dear Ms. Smith:
At the Mayor and Common Council meeting of February 21, 2006, the City of San Bernardino adopted
three resolutions proposing a Charter Amendment for the June 6, 2006 Statewide General Election to be
conducted by the County of San Bernardino. Following are the three resolutions:
1) Resolution No. 2006-61: Resolution of the City of San Bernardino proposing an
amendment to the Charter of said City of San Bernardino relating to the salary of Council
Members.
2) Resolution No. 2006-62: Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of
San Bernardino calling a Special Municipal Election on a proposed Charter Amendment
relating to the salary of the Council Members and requesting that said City of San
Bernardino's Special Municipal Election be consolidated with the June 6, 2006 Statewide
General Election conducted by the County of san Bernardino.
3) Resolution No. 2006-63: Resolution of the City of San Bernardino submitting to the
qualified electors of said City for their approval a proposed Charter Amendment relating
to the salary of Council Members; transmission of the proposed Charter Amendment to
the Office of the City Attorney for purposes of preparation of an impartial analysis.
Enclosed are two (2) certified copies for your files. Respectfully, I am requesting that the appropriate
action be taken to have the County Board of Supervisors approve the City's request to permit the County
Registrar of Voters to provide election services to the City for the Statewide General Election to be held
on Tuesday, June 6, 2006.
