WHEREAS, McDonald's Restaurants serve as a valuable economic engine for the
community through employment and disburses more than $84,000 in wages each day in San
Bernardino City and County; and
WHEREAS, McDonald's purchases nearly $135,600 in goods and services from other
businesses every day in San Bernardino County for an annual total of more than $49.5 million in
annual spending in San Bernardino County; and
WHEREAS, McDonald's contributions in the community have a strong cumulative effect
that result in the creation of more than 7,190 jobs and more than $140 million in spending in San
Bernardino City and County; and
WHEREAS, McDonald's spends more than $3.7 million yearly (nearly $10,200 per day)
on revenues, business and payroll taxes and licensing fees in San Bernardino, that contributes to
supporting our police andfire systems, local schools, streets and highways and a variety of other
public systems.
NOW, THEREFORE, I JUDITH VALLES, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 2nd, 2005 AS
"COMMUNITIES GROW WITH MCDONALD'S DA Y"
and ask the citizens to help in recognizing its notable contributions to the community and for promoting a
greater appreciation to the McDonald's, Operators Association of Southern California.

WHEREAS, The Office of the Municipal Clerk, a time honored and vital part of local
government exists throughout the world, the Office of the Municipal Clerk is the oldest among
public servants; and
WHEREAS, The Office of the Municipal Clerk provides the professional link between
the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels, Municipal
Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal
service to all; and
WHEREAS, The Municipal Clerk serves as the information center on functions of local
government and community in San Bernardino City and County; and
WHEREAS, Municipal Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the
affairs of the Office of the Municipal Clerk through participation in education programs,
seminars, workshops and the annual meetings of their state, province, county and international
professional. Organizations, It is appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments of the
Office of the Municipal Clerk.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JUDITH V ALLES, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO,
DO RECOGNIZE THE WEEK OF MAY I THROUGH 7th, 2005, AS MUNICIPAL CLERKS
WEEK FOR THE VITAL SERVICES THEY PERFORM AND THEIR EXEMPLARY
DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITIES THEY REPRESENT.

WHEREAS, The San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, along with co-sponsor The SUN
Newspaper, will celebrate the Twenty-ninth Annual Law Enforcement Recognition Dinner on May 19,
2005; and
WHEREAS, Officers from the San Bernardino Police Department, the San Bernardino County
Sheriffs Department, the California Highway Patrol, the San Bernardino City Unified School District
Police, California State University San Bernardino Police Department, and the San Bernardino Valley
College Police Department will be honored; and
WHEREAS, The security of our community depends upon dedicated Law Enforcement officers;
and the business community relies on men and women in Law Enforcement to maintain a safe environment
wherein business transactions may take place; and
WHEREAS, The Chamber of Commerce and The SUN wish to recognize those men and women
who have dedicated their professional lives to make San Bernardino a safe environment in which to live
and work.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JUDITH V ALLES, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO,
DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 2005 AS
"LA W ENFORCEMENT MONTH"
and urge the citizens to give support to the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce and The
SUN in recognition of professional Law Enforcement Officers who are serving our community.
