Recommended Motion:
That the Purchasing Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. Two to contract with
Eberhardt Construction, Inc. for three changes in the scope of work at Fire Station #232 in the amount of
$13,667.20.

SUBJECT
Authorization to execute Change Order No. Two to contract with Eberhardt Construction,
Inc. for three changes in the scope of work at Fire Station #232.
BACKGROUND
On March 16, 2004, a contract was issued to Eberhardt Construction, Inc. in the amount
of $2,223,000, for the construction of Fire Station #232 in the Verdemont Area. After the
start of this project, the following changes to the scope needed to be made:
Removal of pre-existing condition
Change Order Number One was to remove a building foundation that was uncovered on
the site. Council approved this action on September 7, 2004.

Delete SB Municipal Water Department
activities out of the scope of work.
Eberhardt Construction was responsible for the
installation of all project water services to the
existing City water main. The San Bernardino
Water Department brought each service to the
property line. Delete this scope of work from
Eberhardt Construction contract.
Delete Cable Creek Channel scope, install
storm water injection system per approved
civil engineer details.
The original design called for an 18"
reinforced concrete pipe and structure side
discharge facility to be built into the adjacent
San Bernardino County Flood Control Cable
Creek Channel. Alternative solutions were
sought due to permitting issues. The San
Bernardino Municipal Water District reviewed
and approved the design.

Delete conflicting materials and irrigation
infrastructure along SBCFC Channel.
The original project landscape design includes
trees, plants and a irrigation system on the
existing County Flood Control maintenance
access road. The landscape scope revision
deletes the materials in conflict with
maintenance access.

Total Change to Contract Amount:
$13,667.20
This change was not identified prior to the start of construction and the costs are
consistent with the Standard Specifications for Public Works Projects (Greenbook). Staff
recommends approval of this change order.

There is sufficient funding for this project in Account No. 211-377-5504-7451 -
Verdemont Fire Station, to cover this change order.

That the Purchasing Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. Two to
contract with Eberhardt Construction, Inc. for three changes in the scope of work at Fire
Station #232 in the amount of$13,667.20.
