Staff Report
SUBJECT:
Resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Fairview Ford for two (2)
Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors.
BACKGROUND:
The Mayor and Common Council approved Resolution 2004-115 on May 3,2004 for
purchasing seventeen (17) 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptors from Fairview Ford
at a total price of $26,274.08 for each vehicle.

On June 15, 2004 the Grants Committee recommended for approval by the Mayor and
Common Council, receipt of an Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Grant,
obligating the expenditure of said grant funds for designated law enforcement purposes.
Resolution 2004-209 was adopted on June 21, 2004, approving the receipt of the grant
which included funds for two fully equipped marked police cars.
Staff received confirmation from Fairview Ford that the price for these two additional
police units will be the same as the May, 2004 purchases. Staff is therefore
recommending approval of a purchase order to Fairview Ford for $26,274.08 per unit for
two (2) vehicles amounting to a total cost of $52,548.16.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Funds for this request are included in Account No. 123-776-6701, Indian Gaming Local
Community Benefit grant,

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER
TO FAIRVIEW FORD FOR TWO (2) FORD CROWN VICTORIA POLICE
INTERCEPTORS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Grant provides funds
for law enforcement expenditures designated in the attached Expenditure Plan
submitted by the Chief of Police (attachment "A").
SECTION 2. That the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution
2004-209 authorizing the receipt of said Benefit Grant on June 21, 2004.
SECTION 3. That Fairview Ford has offered a negotiated purchase of
$52,548.16 for two (2) Crown Victoria Police Interceptors and was the previously
selected vendor for these models. Pursuant to this determination the Purchasing
Manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Fairview Ford, San
Bernardino, in the amount of $52,548.16
SECTION 4. That the Purchase Order shall reference this Resolution
No.2004-_ and shall read, "Purchase of two (2) Year 2005 Ford Crown Victoria
Police Interceptors, P.O. No.
, not to exceed $52,548.16 and shall
incorporate the terms and conditions of this Resolution, which is on file in the City
Clerk's Office.
SECTION 3. The authorization to execute the above referenced Purchase Order is
rescinded if not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
