CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Subiect:
Authorization to establish a No Parking Any Time zone on the south side of Court Street
between Allen Street and 300 feet west of Allen Street.
Backl!:round:
The Traffic Engineering Section received a request from the Fire Department to prohibit
parking on the south side of Court Street west of Allen Street. This section of Court Street lies
in the back of the property of Fire Station No. 221. This section of Court Street also includes
several apartment complexes, including one that is located directly across the street from the
back of the fire station.
Fire Department staff is making this request in order to help resolve several concerns that are
being experienced in this area including:
. Dumping of trash, car parts, tires, etc.
. Objects being thrown into the back of fire station property where both City and personal
vehicles are parked
. Graffiti problems on the wall surrounding the fire station
Traffic Engineering staff evaluated the concerns and concurs with Fire Department staff that
installation of a "No Parking" zone within this area will help alleviate the situation. Fire
station property lies on the south side of Court Street between Allen Street and 300 feet west of
Allen Street. Posting the area immediately adjacent to the fire station property should be
enough to help resolve this situation.
Consequently, staff recommends that the attached Resolution be approved, authorizing the
installation of the "No Parking" zone as referenced above.
The attached Resolution contains two corrections. Existing Subsections "A" and "B" currently
listed under Court Street have been deleted, as they are now obsolete.
Financial Impact:
The estimated cost of $800 for installing the new "No Parking" signs will come from Account
No. 001-402-5111 (Street Maintenance).
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.
