BACKGROUND The City of San Bernardino is the property owner of a fire station located at 3250 Harrison Avenue. The facility was taken out of service years ago and the County of San Bernardino Sheriff's Search and Rescue has leased the building for their operation. On November 17, 1997, the City and the County signed a five-year lease for this site with an effective date of November 1, 1997, and an end date of October 31, 2002. The lease had an option for one five- year renewal, which the county would like to exercise. The term of the new lease would be retroactive back to November 1, 2002, and end on October 31, 2007. In lieu of rent, the County would be responsible for all interior and exterior maintenance and repairs on the building, including the parking lot and grounds. Staff recommends that the lease renewal option be approved. FINANCIAL IMPACT None.
