SUBJECT:
Request from Our Lady of Assumption Church/School for the waiver of City fees in connection
with their Family Fun Fair scheduled at Our Lady of Assumption Church/School on May 16,
2004.
BACKGROUND
Donna Braun of Our Lady of Assumption Church/School is requesting a waiver ofthe City
departmental fees in connection with their Family Fun Fair scheduled for May 16, 2004. These
fees are: TOP ($362); Refuse ($368); Fire ($161) for a total of$891. A similar request was
approved by Mayor and Council last year except for Refuse services which they paid for at that
time. They are including those charges in this year's request. They will continue to pay for
Police. The fair will be held in the parking lot of the church and is held to raise money for
building maintenance and to provide some tuition assistance. The hours of operation will be
10:30 am - 8:30 pm. The fair will include entertainment in the form of a DJ. Food will be
available for sale. Some will be cooked in the school kitchen with hamburgers and bbq cooked
outside. The church will have 10' X 10' canopies and a larger canopy over the outdoor dining
area. They are proposing a one-day ABC license, with alcohol sales in a separate, fenced area.
The City will provide a 40' roll-off refuse container from Public Services. School cub scouts will
empty the small bins into the roll-off. The Police Department will provide security. In addition,
the parents "patrol" the site. The church will use temporary wiring; no generator will be used.
Councilwoman McCammack has recommend that this item be placed on the Mayor and Council
agenda directly in lieu of going to the Ways and Means Committee.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The fees to be waived are: TOP ($362); Refuse ($368); Fire ($161) for a total of$891.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the request for a waiver of City departmental fees in the amount of$891 by Our Lady of
Assumption Church for their Family Fun Fair at our Lady of Assumption Church on May 16,
2004, be approved.

Dear Mayor and Council,
Our church and school puts on an annual Fun Fair to raise money offset the
rising costs of building maintenance and provide some tuition assistance. We are a
non-profit organizatiOn and can provide our tax 10 number if you desire.
We are asking if fees for the temporary use permit, Fire department permit, City
police officers and equipment and the use of a 40 ft roll-off trash receptacle be waived. I
can be reached to answer any questions @ 883-1200 or 553-8314.
