Background: The Public Services Street Division utilizes vehicle #443, a 1991 Ford F700 truck for street maintenance. This vehicle has operated 52,161 miles and is operable, however, the Asphalt Patch body is wom out and obsolete. As there are no local vendors who sell this type of equipment, Staff requested quotes from two vendors regarding the refurbishing of an existing dump truck into an asphalt patch truck. The quotes were received as follows, see Exhibit 1 and 2: Nixon-Egli Equipment Co. Haaker Equipment Co. Santa Fe Springs Pomona $52,977 .00 $55,548.78 The total cost includes one (1) P-B Model B-4 Body, per attached quote (Exhibit 1); the labor cost of $2,000 to remove the existing body, plus $3,666 tax. The cost of the last Patch Truck purchased in 2000 was $110,000 resulting in a cost savings of $57,003. The adapted unit will be utilized by the Street Division Sewer crews for main Iinellateral pavement restoration. Financial Impact: Funds for this purchase are available in the FY2003/2004 Sewer Account No. 132-431- 5704; $60,000 was budgeted for this purchase. Recommendation: Adopt resolution. ,--- i .
