HomeMy WebLinkAboutMC-343 . . . 1 MC-343 ORDINANCE NO. 2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION 5.04.525 TO CHANGE THE BUSINESS LICENSE RATE FOR TRADE SCHOOLS TO 3 THAT OF A RETAIL RATE. 4 THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 5 6 SECTION 1. Section 5.04.525 Subsections A and B of the San 7 Bernardino Municipal Code are amended to read: 8 "A. Professional services. Every person, firm or 9 corporation conducting, managing or carrying on or engaged in any 10 of the businesses hereinafter enumerated in this subsection and 11 not specifically covered elsewhere in this article, shall pay a 12 license fee in accordance with the following table based on 13 annual gross receipts or commissions: 14 15 16 17 Annual gross receipts or commissions License fee per year Les s than $10,000.00 15,000.00 20,000.00 $10,000.00 14,999.99 19,999.99 25,000.00 $ 40.00 60.00 80.00 100.00 to to to 18 If annual gross receipts exceed twenty-five thousand 19 dollars, the annual license fee is one hundred dollars, plus 20 three dollars per year for each one thousand dollars annual gros 21 receipts in excess of twenty-five thousand dollars of such gross 22 receipts. The license provided for in this section shall be pai 23 by every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or 24 carrying on or engaged in any professional service, business, 25 profession or occupation, which shall include but shall not be 26 limited to the following: 27 28 1. Chiropodist 8. Chiropractor 9. Civil, electrical, chemical or mechanical engineer 10. Consultant (one who gives professional advice or services) 11. Dentist 12. Drafting 13. Employment agency 14. Marriage or family counselor 15. Optician 16. Optometrist 17. Oculist 18. Osteopath or osteopathist 19. Physical therapist 20. Physician 21. Real estate broker 22. Surgeon 23. Undertaker, embalmer or funeral director 24. Teacher of private dancing school of more than twelve pupils; and 25. Every person carrying on or engaged in the business of treating, curing, administering to or giving treatments to the sick, wounded or infirm for the purpose of bringing about their recovery, by any method or 2 MC-343 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 pursuant to any belief, doctrine or system other than those hereinabove specifically named, and charging fee or compensation therefor. Nothing contained in this section shall be deemed or construed as applying to any person engaged in any of the businesses hereinbefore enumerated, solely as an employee of any other person, firm, or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on any such business in the City. B. Retail merchants (other than food). Every person, firm or corporation conducting, managing or carrying on the business of selling at retail any goods, services, wares or merchandise not otherwise specifically licensed by other sections of this article, shall pay an annual license fee of forty dollars per year, plus three-fourths of one-tenth of one percent (.00075) of all dollar value of annual gross receipts in excess of fifteen thousand dollars of such gross receipts, payable quarterly in four equal payments. 'Retail merchants (other than food)' for purposes of this subsection shall include but not be limited to the following businesses: 1. Alterations 2. Ambulance service 3. Antiques 4. Armored car service 5. Art stud io or ga llery 6. Athletic exhibitions 7. Barber and beauty supply 8.
