RESOLUTION NO. 90-144
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO SUPPORTING H.
R. 3389, THE BILLBOARD CONTROL ACT OF 1989.
WHEREAS, H. R. 3389, the Billboard Act of 1989 was
introduced by Congressman John Lewis of Georgia on October 2,
1989; and
WHEREAS,
H. R. 3389, returns to states and local
governments the right to regulate existing billboards under
their own land use laws; and
WHEREAS, H. R. 3389, places a moratorium on new billboard
construction along
interstates and federal
primary
aide
highways; and
WHEREAS, H. R. 3389, shall find a State to be in non-
compliance if vegetation, located on any land on which the State
owns a right-of-way, is allowed to be cut, altered, or removed
for the purpose of improving the visibility of any outdoor
advertising sign, display or device; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor and Common
Council of the City of San Bernardino does hereby support H. R.
3389;
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the city Council of the city
of San Bernardino is working with the members of the Corridor
Beautification Committee to improve the I-10 Corridor.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
