HomeMy WebLinkAbout1992-433 . . 1 2 RESOLUTION NO. 92-433 A RESOLUTION OF THE ~~YOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN 3 BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING REGULATIONS EOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE PERTAINING TO CANDIDATES STATEMENTS 4 SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS AT AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, I'~RCH 2, 1993. 5 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE 6 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 7 WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the 8 State of California provides that the governing body of any 9 local agency adopt regulations pertaining to materials 10 prepared by any candidate for a municipal election, including 11 costs of the candicates' statements; 12 13 SECTION 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS. That pursuant to Section 1f'lf)1'") ...\JV......Lo of the Elections Code of the State of 14 California, each candidate for elective office to be voted 15 for at an Election to be held in the City of San Bernardino 16 on March 2, 1993 may prepare a candidate's statement on an 17 appropriate form provided by the City Clerk. The statement 18 may include the name, age and occupation of the candidate and 19 a brief description of no more than 200 words of the 20 candidate's education and qualifications expressed by the 21 candidate himself or herself. The statement shall not 22 include party affiliation of the candidate, nor membership or 23 activity in partisan political organizations. The statement 24 shall be filed in the office of the City Clerk at the time 25 the candidate's nomination papers are filed. The statement 26 may be withdrawn, but not changed, during the period for 27 filing nomination papers and until 4:30 p.m. of the next 28 working day after the close of the nomination period. 10/28/92 1 1 2 3 4 RESOLUTION ADOPTING REGULATIONS FOR CANDIDATES FOR ELECTIVE OFFICE PERTAINING TO CANDIDATES STATEMENTS, SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS AT AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 2, 1993. SECTION 2. SPANISH LANGUAGE. The City Clerk shall have 5 all candidates statements translated and printed in the 6 voters pamphlet. 7 SECTION 3. ADDITIONAL MATERIALS. No candidate will be 8 permitted to include additional materials in the sample 9 ballot package. 10 SECTION 4. PAYMENT. The City Clerk shall estimate the 11 total cost of printing, handling, translating, and mailing 12 the candidates statements filed pursuant to the Elections 13 Code, and require each candidate filing a statement to pay in 14 advance his or her pro rata share as a condition of having 15 his or her statement included in the voter's pamphlet. The 16 City Clerk shall bill each candidate for any cost in excess 17 of the deposit or shall refund within 30 days of the election 18 any unused portion of the deposit. 19 SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall provide each 20 candidate or the candidate's representative a copy of this 21 Resolution at the time nominating petitions are issued. 22 SECTION 6. That this resolution shall apply at the next 23 ensuing municipal election and at each municipal election 24 25 26 27 28 after that time. , I // // ! !
