HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-240 RESOLUTION NO. 96-240 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY RELATING TO THE POWER OF I THE MAYOR TO VETO ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS OF THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION 2 3 BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN 4 5 SECTION 1. Recitals, (a) In accordance with the Constitution of the State of California, the City of San 7 6 Bernardino, a municipal corporation, has adopted a Charter. (b) The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino desire to submit 9 8 to the electors the Charter Amendment set forth in this resolution. SECTION 2, Submittal to Electors, The following proposed amendment to the Charter 10 of the City of San Bernardino is submitted to the qualified electors of the City of San Bernardino 11 for their approval or rejection at the consolidated municipal election to be held on Tuesday, 12 November 5, 1996. 13 PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 14 It is proposed that Section 90 be added to the Charter of the City of San Bernardino to read as 15 follows: 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 III 25 III 26 III 27 28 "Section 90. Veto Power of Mayor in Community Development Commission When pursuant to state law the Mayor and Common Council have designated themselves as the Community Development Commission of the City, the Mayor shall have the power of veto of all orders and resolutions of the Commission, in the same manner as he or she has as Mayor of the City. subject to the power of the Commission to override the veto, in the same manner as the Council has in the City," DAB:tbm(Veto.Res] I July] 9, 1996 RES 96-240 , ,.
