RESOLUTION
2 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AFFIRMING ITS COMMITMENT
TO THE ERADICATION OF HATE CRIMES.

4 As a community, San Bernardino supports and values diversity among
5 its residents wi th regard to race,
religion,
ethnicity,
6 socioeconomic
status, age, culture, gender, disability, and
7 any other protected class.
Acts which subject any group or
8 individual to harassment or attack should not be tolerated within
9 the Community. Community groups and residents are urged to affirm
10 their support of the full acceptance of all persons within the
11 community.
12 WHEREAS, racial, ethnic and religious diversity of the City
13 of San Bernardino has been one of its major assets for well over
14 a century; and
15 WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino takes great pride in the
16 variety of peoples and creeds that constitute its population; and
17
WHEREAS, attacks based on ethnicity, race, religion, or
18 sexual orientation, commonly known as hate crimes, upon citizens
19 or their property will not be tolerated in the City of San
20 Bernardino.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON
22 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. The Mayor and Common Council formally confirm
24 and adopt a policy of zero tolerance toward the commission of hate
25 crimes in the City of San Bernardino.

SECTION 2. All agencies responsible for the protection of
27
our citizens are encouraged to zealously pursue the apprehension
28

1 of any person involved in the commission of a hate crime upon our
2 citizens or their property.

SECTION 3. Any and all legal options available should be
4 used to prosecute to the fullest any person participating in hate
5 crimes.
6 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly
7 adopted by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
8
Bernardino at a
regular
meeting thereof, held on the
