RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE
APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FROM THE SOUTH COAST AIR QUALITY
MANAGEMENT DISTRICT'S ASSEMBLY BILL 2766 DISCRETIONARY FUND PROGRAM for
the following project:
HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLE ALTERNATIVE FUEL PROGRAM.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the State of California has enacted Assembly Bill 2766 which provides funds to cities,
counties and other qualified entities for reducing source emissions within the South Coast air basin, of
which the City is within; and,
WHEREAS, the South Coast Air Quality Management District has been delegated the
responsibility of increasing the quality of air within the South Coast air basin, administering the AB2766
funds within the region; and,
WHEREAS, the South Coast Air Quality Management District has identified heavy duty vehicles
as a major source of air pollutants within the air basin; and,
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino, through it's Refuse Division, operates a fleet of heavy
duty vehicles which are the subject of this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, the City desires to encourage and promote the use of environmentally sensitive
technologies, such as the use of Liquified Natural Gas in City vehicles whenever feasible, which will
significantly reduce air pollution within the basin, thereby improving the quality of life for residents; and,
WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into an agreement with the South Coast Air Quality
Management District for the development of the projects identified within the grant application and agrees
to commit funds in the amount of $250,000 towards this program,
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San
Bernardino authorizes the submittal of a proposal to the South Coast Air Quality Management District's
Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee for a grant under the AB2766 Discretionary

REA VY-DUTY VEHICLE ALTERNATIVE FUEL PROGRAM.
Fund heavy-duty alternative fuel request for proposal #9596-43. The Director of Public Services of the
City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of San
Bernardino all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments hereto for the purposes of
securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
