Home My WebLink About1997-331 1 RESOLUTION NO. 97-331 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF TWO (2) SEPARATE 3 CONTRACTS BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO AND THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR (1) EQUIPMENT AND USER ACCESS INTO THE NATIONAL LAW 4 ENFORCEMENT AND CALIFORNIA LAW ENFORCEMENT TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (NLETS & CLETS); AND (2) EQUIPMENT AND USER ACCESS INTO THE 5 SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT CENTRAL NAME INDEX (CNI). 6 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 7 8 SECTION 1, The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is 9 hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of said City 10 two (2) contracts between the County of San Bernardino and the City 11 of San Bernardino. The first contract is for equipment and user 12 access into the National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS) and the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System 13 (CLETS), a copy of which is attached hereto marked Exhibit "A" and 14 incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at 15 length. The second contract is for equipment and user access into 16 the Sheriff's Central Name Index, a copy of which is attached 17 hereto marked Exhibit "B" and incorporated herein by reference as 18 fully as though set forth at length. 19 SECTION 2. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The County provides teleprocessing services to various cities throughout the County in order to promote effective regional law enforcement through cooperative use of the Sheriff's computerized data files. These contracts are amended annually to revise the fee schedule to insure proper remuneration to the County. REVIEW BY OTHERS: This contract amendment has been reviewed by the County Administrative Office and has been reviewed and approved as to form by Deputy County Counsel Kevin Norris. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Revenue generated by this contract, in the amount of $21,423, was included in the Sheriff's Department Budget for FY 1997/98. RECOMMENDATION: Approve amendments to the following contracts for access to CLETS and maintenance of related equipment: City of Los Angeles City of San Bernardino 96-1020 A1 95-1062 A2 BACKGROUND INFORMATION: By State of California mandate, the Sheriffs Department oversees the area switching center, which allows access to CLETS by local law enforcement agencies. In turn the Department contracts with these agencies to spread the cost of the system among the agencies using the system. Contracts for ClETS access are amended annually to revise the fee schedule to insure proper remuneration to the County.
