RESOLUTION OF TIm CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA,
3 SUPPORTING TIm UNIVERSITY-CITY PACT TO DECREASE TOBACCO ACCESS
TO MINORS.

5 WHEREAS, decreasing youth access to tobacco is a high priority;
6
WHEREAS, City Leaders endorse a broad-based public policy approach to community
7 improvement and the promotion of health for its youth;
8 WHEREAS, the community residents, youth, city officials, and businesses participating
in the University-City PACT will develop a more comprehensive understanding of tobacco
9 and its impacts on youth in our community and public policy approaches that result in
10 positive community benefit; and
11 WHEREAS, Mayor and Common Council supports the University-City PACT concept as
a means of integrating healthy concerns into a community and scientific approach to
12 improving the overall environment in the City of San Bernardino and intends to
13 participate in the Project as established by Behavioral Health Institute, CSUSB and the
State Department of Health Services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND COMMON
15 COUNCIL:
16 Support the University-City PACT as a means of providing a comprehensive community-
17 based intervention to decrease illegal sales of tobacco to minors in the City.

3 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the Mayor

meeting thereof,
