HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-077 1 2 3 RESOLUTION NO. 97-77 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO APPROVING A SIDE LEITER TO RESOLUTION NO. 89-129, RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING MANAGEMENT 4 AND CONFIDENTIAL COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS PLAN, AMENDING SECTION H. PERS, AND ADDING SECTION V. UNIFORM ALLOWANCE AND SECTION W. POST 5 REIMBURSEMENT FOR POLICE SAFETY MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES, EFFECTIVE 6 AS OF JULY I, 1997, CONCURRENT WITH COUNCIL APPROVAL OF THE FISCAL YEAR 1997-98 CITY BUDGET. 7 8 WHEREAS the Mayor and Common Council approved Resolution No. 96-286, 9 authorizing the execution of an agreement with Ralph Andersen & Associates for a 10 ManagementlConfidential compensation study; 11 WHEREAS the "AGREEMENT" made and entered into by and between City of San 12 Bernardino and Ralph Andersen & Associates included as one of its objectives, to conduct a 13 survey of municipalities regarding their benefits for management (safety and non-safety) and 14 confidential employees and develop benefit recommendations; 15 16 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 17 SECTION I: The Mayor and Director of Personnel are hereby authorized and directed 18 to execute on behalf of said City a Side Letter to Resolution No. 89-129, amending Section H. 19 20 21 PERS, and adding Section V. Uniform Allowance and Section W. PENMAN 24 City Attorney 25 '1 26 i/ 27 2 28 97-77 SIDE LEITER TO RESOLUTION NO. 89-129 FOR POLICE SAFETY MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES This exhibit sets forth the Side Letter to Resolution No. 89-129, for full-time, regular, active Police Safety Management employees. H. fEES Add: Police Safety Management members will receive 9% City payment of the 9% contribution to PERS. V. Uniform Allowance (new section) Once each fiscal year, each Police Safety Management member sha1l receive an annual uniform allowance of $500 to be paid in a lump sum amount during the first pay period of March. New employees must wait until the first pay period of March to receive their annual uniform allowance. Note: One-time only, a uniform allowance of $500 will also be provided concurrent with the adoption of the Fiscal Year 1997-98 budget to Police Safety Management members who are actively employed in the Police Department as of July 1, 1997. W. POST Reimbursement (new section) All Police Safety Management members shall be entitled to receive, in addition to their regular sa1ary and as may be appropriate, one of the levels of incentive payment as outlined below: 1. One hundred dollars ($100) additional compensation per month shall be paid each member who has obtained a POST Intermediate Certificate; or, 2. One hundred fifty dollars ($150) additional compensation per month shall be paid each member who has obtained a POST Advanced Certificate; or, 3. One hundred seventy-five dollars ($175) additional compensation per month shall be paid each member who has obtained a POST Supervisory Certificate; or, 4. Two hundred dollars ($200) additional compensation per month shall be paid each member who has obtained a POST Management Certificate.
