RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE EXECUTION OF A FIRST AMENDMENT
TO A COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
FUNDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO, AND HOME OF NEIGHBORLY SERVICES

Be it resolved by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino as follows:

SECTION I

(a) The Mayor of the City of San Bernardino is hereby authorized and directed to
11

execute, on behalf of the City, the First Amendment to the agreement for Community
13
Development Block Grant funding with Home of Neighborly Services, which amendment is
14
attached hereto as Exhibit "1", and is incorporated herein by reference as though fully set forth at
15
length, The First Amendment provides for the granting of Community Development Block
16
17
Grant funds in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000),
18
SECTION II
19
(a) The authorization to execute the above referenced amendment is rescinded if the
20
parties to the agreement shall fail to execute it within sixty (60) days ofthe passage of the

FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
PUBLIC SERVICE AGREEMENT
THIS FIRST AMENDMENT to Agreement 97-103 referred to as ("Amendment"),
is made and entered into this 16TH day of FEBRUARY 1998 by and between the CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO, a Municipal Corporation, referred to as ("City"), and HOME OF
NEIGHBORLY SERVICE. INC., a nonprofit community service organization, referred to as
("Subrecipient"). City and Subrecipient agree as follows:
WITNESSETH
Community Development Block Grant
Whereas, City and Subrecipient have previously entered into agreement 97-103 dated
JULY 1.1997, referred to as ("Agreement"), for an FAMILY LITERACY. and
Whereas, City and Subrecipient desire to amend said agreement to include the
subrecipient's completion of the services; and
Whereas, City and Subrecipient desire to increase the amount of Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding in the amount of ONE THOUSAND AND NO/I00
Dollars ($1,000.00) as part of the Fiscal Year 1996/1997 Mid year Reallocation process approved
on January 12, 1998.
Now therefore, in consideration of the mutual covenants herein set forth and the
mutual benefit to be derived there from, the parties agree as follows:
1. Add to Section I (b) Recitals (Exhibit" A")

City shall reimburse Subrecipient for allowable costs, incurred under the scope of this
Agreement within applicable Federal regulations, which have not been paid for. Reimbursement will
be made, at least on a monthly basis, and the total of all reimbursements will not exceed NINETEEN
THOUSAND AND NO/I00 ($19,000.00).
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this Amendment to be
executed on the date and year first hereinabove written,

Family Literacy
SCOPE OF SERVICES
1. Funds will be used for salaries/fringe benefits for a tutorer to expand the literacy
service to provide adults with English as a second language and basic skill classes.
2. Total funding is not to exceed $19,000.
