RESOLUTION NO. 2002-97
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO SUPPORTING THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO FIRE
DEPARTMENT, AS LEAD AGENCY, TO SUBMIT A REGIONAL APPLICATION
FOR A HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE GRANT FOR THE COLLECTION OF
CA THODE RAY TUBES (CRTS)
WHEREAS the State of California has banned cathode ray tubes (CRTs) from
solid waste landfills as hazardous waste and determined a need for local opportunities
for the proper disposition and recycling of CRTs and other waste electronic products;
and,
WHEREAS the City of San Bernardino currently contracts with the County of
San Bernardino to manage the City of San Bernardino household hazardous waste
disposal and reuse program; and,
WHEREAS the County of San Bernardino Fire Department has a manned
permanent facility that may be expanded to accept waste household electronic
products, including CRTs, for proper disposition and recycling; and,
WHEREAS the people of the State of California have enacted Assembly Bill
1220 (Eastin 1993) that provides funds to local governments to establish and
implement waste diversion and separation programs to prevent disposal of hazardous
waste, including household hazardous waste, in solid waste landfills; and,
WHEREAS the CIWMB has been delegated the responsibility for the
administration of the program within the state, setting up necessary procedures
governing application by cities and counties under the program; and,
WHEREAS the County of San Bernardino Fire Department will enter into an
agreement with the State of California for development of the projects.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City of San Bernardino supports the County of San
Bernardino Fire Department, as Lead Agency, to submit a regional application for a
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) grant for the collection of electronic wastes under
the California Integrated Waste Management Act to the CIWMB,
