RESOLUTION NOo 2002-47 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE RELEASE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL 3 FOR ARTS IN PUBLIC PLACES BY THE FINE ARTS COMMISSION. 4 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY 5 OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 6 SECTION 1. PENMAN, City Attorney By: ~~ 1-'~ () , 2002-47 REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL The Fine Arts Commission of the City of San Bernardino is seeking proposals for the following Art in Public Places projects: ~ Sculpture/casting representing the Spirit of the City of San Bernardino. Project will be placed on the grounds surrounding City Hall, City of San Bernardino. ~ Sculpture/water feature representing the cultural life ofthe City of San Bernardino. This proposal will be for only the design phase of the project. ~ Painted Mural representing life themes in the City of San Bernardino. Mural may be painted directly on wall or painted on canvas and then permanently attached to wall. Design must be adaptable to various size restrictions. ~ Non-specific Visual Art proposals will be accepted for consideration. Must included intended installation site. If site is a privately owned site, then collaboration and cost sharing with owner must be included in project. This is a three round application process. First round is Request for Qualifications. Applicants are to submit cover letter with general proposal for Art in Public Places, resume, and at least twenty (20) and no more than thirty (30)slides of completed and installed work, no more than 5 per work. In the Second Round, chosen artists will be invited to submit detailed proposal and design ideas. Sites may be recommended in second round. Third round will be request for formal design from selected artists. Submit first round RFQ's, by mail or hand delivery, no later the 4:00 p.mo Friday, March 1, 2002. Materials must be in the hands of the Fine Arts Commission no later than deadline. Postmarks are not acceptable. Submit to Fine Arts Commission, Mayor's Office, 6th Floor City Hall, 300 N. Visual Art funded by the City of San Bernardino becomes the property of the City of San Bernardino with all rights reserved to the City of San Bernardino. 2. Fine Arts Commission reserves the right to request changes in project to conform to project ideals and location requirements. 3. Higher consideration will be given to projects that are collaborative in nature andlor projects that include citizens (children or adults). Exhibit A
