RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION
BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR HER DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR AND
ADMINISTER A GRANT FROM THE MERVYN'S 2004 COMMUNITY GIVING
PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,487.04 TO ASSIST WITH YOUTH MENTORING
SERVICES FOR FY 2004-05.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino hereby
the submittal of a grant application from the Mervyn's 2004 Community Giving Program
111 lin the amount of $2,487.04 relating to the provision of youth mentoring services for the period of
1211July 1 2004 through June 30, 2005. A copy of said application is hereby attached hcrcto.
Exhibit "A", and incorporated herein by reference as fully as though set forth at length.

The City of San Bernardino Mentoring Program (CSBMP) Serves at -risk youth by
providing one-on-one mentoring and outreach to parents and other family members. Both
the California Mentor Quality Assurance Standards and Governor's Mentoring
Partnership certify our mentoring program
Project Description:
We are requesting $ 2,487.04 to continue with the parenting classes in Spanish & English
for mentee's parents and mentor training in identification of risk factors for children. The
classes, conferences, and workshops in such topics as drugs & alcohol abuse, teen
pregnancy prevention, youth development, ADHD, alternative to gang activity, health
provision, referrals and behavior management will educate and help to reduce or
eliminate family violence. The Mentoring Program works with 52 partner agencies.
Volunteers:
Not only are mentors serving as volunteers, but also the CSBMP provides opportunities
for other volunteers to be involved as childcare providers, clerical assistants, camping trip
leaders, transportation providers, and presenters in various activities, workshops, and
conferences.
Budget:
Trainer (1 Staff) $ 18.56 per hour x 134 hours $ 2, 487.04
