RESOLUTION NO. 2004-55
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF THREE PROJECT
APPLICATIONS FOR THE FIFTH FUNDING CYCLE OF THE SAFE ROUTES TO
SCHOOL (SR2S) PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, On October 2, 2001, Governor Davis signed Senate Bill 10 (SB 10/SOTO),
extending the Safe Routes to School Program for three more years to January 1, 2005. The
SR2S Program is a construction program that is intended to improve and enhance the safety of
school pedestrians and bicycle facilities and related infrastructure. It is anticipated that District 8
agencies, which include Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, may receive approximately
$2,000,000 to fund their (5th cycle) SR2S Projects this fiscal year.
WHEREAS, The City has nominated three projects for the current funding cycle of the
SR2S Program. The projects, which require a 10% percent local match, are prioritized as
follows:

1. Lincoln Elementary School: Install traffic signal: $15,000 $135,000 $150,000
2. San Gorgonio High School: Install Traffic signal: $11,700 $105,300 $117,000
3. Fluorescent School Zone Signs: Install signs city-wide:

$145,000
Total SR2S project funding breakdown:
$41,200
$370,800
$ 412,000
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the
City of San Bernardino approve the submission of three project applications for the fifth funding
cycle of the Safe Routes to School Program.
